” They tried to bury us. They didn’t know that we were seeds” – Latinx Proverb

The brilliant, emmy award winning, self proclaimed “ghetto scholar”, John Leguizamo is our latinx MVP!! If you are of hispanic descent (latinx descent will be explained in a future blog), and have not yet seen his LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS broadway special on Netflix, listen up because he has truly outdone himself with this one man show. It is by far one of the most informative and captivating specials of all times.

Leguizamo has so much stamina in our latinx community having been a chameleon in the entertainment industry since the 1980’s. To name a few of his highly successful roles he has played: the infamous “Benny” in Carlito’s Way, a flamboyant drag queen “Chi-Chi” in golden globe nominated To Wong Foo film, and “Tybalt Capulet” in the classic Romeo + Juliet movie. He has made a living as a stand up comediean and was often not taken seriously by Hollywood as he has explained in numerous interviews and discussions when speaking on his experience and rise to fame.

As he puts it: American history, their textbooks, and their schools have given zero credit to the Latinx community for our powerful mark in pioneering America. YES you read that correctly. I repeat: LATINX HAVE BEEN GIVEN NO CREDIT BY THE UNITED STATES FOR HAVING HAD BATTLED IN ALL WARS IN AMERICA SINCE IT WAS PIONEERED!!

Let’s let that statement sink in just a bit.

The uncovering and sharing of the TRUE story of American history presented by Leguizamo will teach you about the 3000 years of pain and brutality that our ancestors have faced and has been expunged from history records. Something not many latinx understand.

I have personally always sought out to learn more of my lineage and ancestry but this, was beyond what I have been able to uncover alone. Today, we are a bullseye target in the eyes of conservative Republic white Americans but as a latinx community we too need to start overcoming these stigmas by ridding ourselves of the WHITEWASHED mentality that has oppressed us for centuries. After learning about the true American history, you will say to yourself “NO MORE”. I was moved to tears from this special and encourage everyone to watch it.

Although you may never read this John, on behalf of ALL brown womxn, mxn, and children around the world: THANK YOU!  America has tried to bury us. They didn’t know that we were seeds. BRAVO!!
