Better gun control is one thing America must tackle. Yes, it is written as a Second Amendment of the Constitution that, as a country, we have the right to bear arms. However, that amendment was instilled in a completely different era and for a completely different purpose. Currently, America is not a war zone the way it was when America was founded.
**It seems like the only “war zone” that has continued are the ones made through acts of violence with assault guns and rifles. Assault guns were involved in 10 of the deadliest shootings in our history and nothing has been done to rectify this issue. That is exactly what this movement is trying to address. As a trauma nurse, I have personally seen the damaging results of gun violence and the effects on a human’s quality of life. Despite what the NRA believes, trust me this IS my lane. In fact this is OUR lane.
No parent should have to bury their child. No husband or wife should have to say goodbye to their loved ones unexpectedly. No sister or brother should be worried their loved ones may not come home from a day or night out. If we are able to unite our voices and use it for the better good, for all individuals, why not take that step?
